Indian Traditional Yoga Certificate Course

We will bring you back to the source and roots of all modern yoga practices and teach you the ancient yogic techniques originated from India.

The certificate course is a structured program. It covers three levels of practice and theories of Indian traditional yoga.  All beginners, advanced practitioners of modern styles of yoga and yoga instructors are welcome to join.  

The course is conducted in one-to-one setting or small private group in flexible schedules.

We will award completion certificates to students who have completed all levels of the course.  The study hours can be credited to Yoga Alliance teaching training course. Students can also apply the study hours to Continuing Education (CE) hours of Yoga Alliance.

After completing the course, a student will have a good foundation of knowledge of Indian traditional yoga for their home practice and progressing into higher level of practice.  In addition, yoga instructors can apply their knowledge of Indian traditional yoga in their teachings.

LEVEL ONE

8 classes (60 minutes each)

  • Introduction of traditional yoga.
  • Understand your body conditions.
  • Joint and muscle loosening exercises. 
  • Introduction of breath awareness.
  • Daily practice of simple sequence of traditional yoga asana.
  • Clearing doubts by teacher.
  • Importance of regular practice.

LEVEL TWO

8 classes (90 minutes each)

  • Deeper understanding of traditional yoga asansa.
  • Introduction of different types of traditional yoga asana.
  • Self-adjustment techniques.
  • Introduction of different types of breathing techniques.
  • Understand the effects on muscle and bone when holding in asana.
  • Provide regular practice sequence.
  • Explanations on Sadhana and self-discipline.
  • Combine asana practice with proper breathing.
  • Contraindications of asana practice.
  • Explanations on avoiding asana practice in particular days.
  • Prepare body for advanced asana practice.

LEVEL THREE

10 classes (90 minutes each)

  • Introduction of advanced sadhana (asana, pranayama, bandha and kumbhaka).
  • Prepare body for advanced practice.
  • Knowledge on benefits of yoga asana practice.
  • Holding asana for longer time in a safe mode.
  • Importance of Karma Yoga.
  • Introduction of meditation and techniques.
  • Understand the difference between western yoga and traditional yoga.
  • Understand the difference between yoga and other exercises.
  • Explanations on correct poses and incorrect poses.
  • Understand the damaging effects of incorrect poses.
  • Methods of practice according to body’s readiness and needs.
  • Prepare body for self-practice sequence with proper counter poses.
  • Importance of food in yoga practice.
